You can also remove the peels and scoop out the seeds, if you like, or cook figs by baking, broiling or grilling them. But, the quickest and easiest way to enjoy these gems is by removing the stem and taking a bite right out of the raw fig!
As well as eating them raw, here’s a lovely way to enjoy figs in a sorbet
Fresh fig sorbet
Ingredients (makes 6 servings so some can be frozen for another day)
- 10 whole, ripe figs
- 4oz granulated sugar
- 60ml water
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
Instructions
- Over low heat in a saucepan, heat the figs, sugar, and water until the sugar completely dissolves.
- Place the fig mixture and lemon juice in a food processor or blender until the mixture is smooth.
- Freeze the fig puree in an ice-cream maker using individual ice cream maker instructions.
